$3B For Good: Michael Bloomberg Was The Largest Single Person Donor In 2023

Did you know that there’s a whole list of the largest donors created every year? Well, when it came to making the list of 2023 donors, there was one man who really topped the charts. Michael Bloomberg made a huge difference through multiple charitable donations throughout the year. Across multiple different organizations, Michael donated over $3B that went toward helping people and the world in general. As a man who started on the bottom on Wall Street, he is no stranger to how even hard working individuals can fall. He seems to have made it a personal mission to give and make a real difference.

Part of the reason he donated so much is because he signed a pledge with some other very wealthy individuals. Charitable foundation, The Giving Pledge, encourages people in outstanding financial situations to donate more than half of their profits to charity. Because Michael Bloomberg signed on to the cause, he chose to follow through on his word by donating the majority of his earnings for the year. That totaled to around $3B by the end of 2023.

A few things Bloomberg likes to support include gun safety and general education, climate change efforts, and several other types of charities. It’s important to him that America’s youth can achieve higher education than they might otherwise be able to. The climate is a concern because he cares enough for the planet to make sure it’s here for the future generations of the world. He also donates to ensure that anyone who touches a gun can access proper safety tools and resources. With safety education comes less violence and silly mistakes that cost too much to make.

Along with him on The Giving Pledge are some of the wealthiest names around the world. How cool is it that Michael Bloomberg set an example for people who are even richer than he is? As the richest person in New York, Bloomberg has both the capability and the desire to do true good and make real change. Bloomberg Philanthropies is his own personal foundation that spreads his wealth to charities in need. His contributions have helped make progress for environmental stability, public health, and even the arts. To combine two of his favorite passions, education and health, Bloomberg is a regular donor for Johns Hopkins University. If he has it his way, he’ll see to it that he personally funds many different climate, education, safety, and health efforts.
