How Giving To Charity Helps Much More Than You Think

What’s a few pennies to you? Probably not much, so they’re really not worth too much to anyone else, right? Actually, that’s where you’d be wrong. Just imagine how many other people think that very same thing everyday. Now, picture what would happen if thousands or millions of people tossed their pennies into a charity instead of into their couch  cushions. There would be huge donations being made all the time because change buckets fill up really fast when everyone participates.

In 2023, and so far in 2024, there have already been some big impacts made by people like you. When you give even as little as you can, you can still see all of the positivity a small donation can bring. Together, we can pool our change and give a large sum donation that really makes a big difference. instead of looking at it like your part barely counts, look at it like you have a part because you really do. Everyone can offer something to make someone else’s day or life a little easier. If you really can’t spare money to donate, maybe you can spare some time. Go out to the local soup kitchen or plant trees with an environmental organization.

Your part matters so much that it adds together to be the whole puzzle. Take your piece and see how you can fit it into the idea of doing good with what you have. You might even inspire others to start doing something positive, too. Sometimes, all it takes is seeing a friend give something to charity, even if it’s just time or some old clothes. Make a big impact by volunteering for something in your community or just planting a garden. Smile at everyone you see to spread joy that inspires more giving. Do what you can and you will see a big difference when it all adds together.

A really good example of what a little bit of change or time can do for others is the Salvation Army Red Kettle you see every December. Each year, the Red Kettle is responsible for donating over $100M. Even during inflation and with fewer donations, the Salvation Army is still able to raise millions for those in need. If you think about it, that’s really only about a month’s worth of time and a few pennies from each person. Whenever you think your small amount of resources don’t count, remember that there’s a smiley guy ringing a bell in the cold for pennies that add up to millions.
